Safeguarding children in sports groups and voluntary organisations
26 August 2021
Nottinghamshire and Nottingham City SCPs present an online, interactive, partnership event on Wednesday October 6th at 9.30am. Hear how real-life safeguarding situations were managed, plus an expert speaker on child neglect.
This half day partnership event will encourage a wide-ranging discussion between participants about safeguarding children in sports groups and voluntary sector organisations. We have an expert speaker on the subject of child neglect, Ruth Pearson, who has over 30 years experience in the field of child protection as a social worker and manager, and presentations from Nottingham Forest Football Club, the National Ice Arena in Nottingham and the YMCA. These presentations will look at real life situations where children were at risk of harm, how this was managed, and what was learned from the events. Participants will have the opportunity to participate in discussions about the barriers and challenges in safeguarding children in sports groups and voluntary sector organisations.
Safeguarding checklists will be introduced as a useful tool to help your group meet best safeguarding and child protection practice.
This is a free event for those identified as safeguarding leads.
