NSAB Board Meeting update 08.04.2021

Summary

  • A presentation was given by a representative from National Institute of Clinical & Health Excellence (NICE) on the recently published NICE Safeguarding and Care Home Guidelines
  • A presentation was given by the Senior Public Health and Commissioning Manager at Nottinghamshire County Council on the Domestic Abuse Bill, its progress towards receiving Royal Assent, and the duties it will place upon various agencies
  • A presentation was given by Bassetlaw Clinical Commissioning Group on “The Voice of the Service User”, outlining a safeguarding case. Further input into the case was provided by Nottinghamshire County Council
  • Updates were provided in relation to the recent work of the Learning and Development Sub-Group, the Quality Assurance Sub-Group (including Safeguarding Data) and the Safeguarding Adults Review Sub-Group
  • Organisational updates were provided by Adult Social Care, Nottinghamshire County Council; Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group; Bassetlaw Clinical Commissioning Group; Nottinghamshire Healthcare Trust; and Nottinghamshire Police regarding the work which is ongoing during the pandemic, and any changes to circumstances since the previous Board Meeting in January
  • An update was provided in relation to the improving picture for care homes and home care providers
  • The Chair confirmed that the Board’s 12-month Interim Plan was now in place and a Business Plan has been drafted. Discussions took place on how best to take forward the Board’s new strategic priority of “Engagement”
  • An Advice Note from the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services was shared, and a number of recommendations for Safeguarding Adults Boards, Local Authorities and Health were noted, with a discussion on how these can be taken forward – a report is due at the July Board Meeting
  • The Chair confirmed that the next Regional Chairs’ Meeting will be held on 26th April 2021, the Board’s next Partnership Event is scheduled for 18th May 2021, the Partner Assurance Tool will be circulated for completion later in April
  • The Chair confirmed that a document providing information around the various Health Agencies has been drafted and circulated, and will be shared more widely on completion
  • Thanks were given by the Chair to all agencies represented on the Board for their ongoing work, especially given the difficulties faced during the pandemic
